Date and time: 22:00 (17/05/2012) - 00:00 (18/05/2012) AEST

Duration: 2 hours

Impact: During the upgrade period, existing customers will not be able to access the Cloud hosting Horde webmail interface. Customers who use POP or IMAP to access their mail via regular applications will still be able to log in as usual, and will not be impacted. We recommend using the @Mail interface for webmail access during this period.

Services affected: The upgrade will only affect clients using TPP Internet’s Cloud (Shared) Hosting Webmail service. No emails will be lost.

Update: 13:36 11/04/12

We’ve had confirmation that network access to md-cpanel04.websiteactive.com has been restored via the Optus link. All services associated with this machine will come back online within the next 15 minutes, however if further attack occurs we will need to disable this link again.

We thank you for your patience throughout this outage.

Update: 11:15am 11/04/12

We can confirm that network congestion is easing and customers should start to find service accessibility improve and begin to return to normal.

Our network engineers have isolated and blocked all incoming traffic to md-cpanel04.websiteactive.com at an upstream provider level until the DDoS attack ceases. Unfortunately websites hosted on this server will not resolve or have access via FTP, emails or cPanel admin panel.

Further updates will be provided as it becomes available.

Update: 10.35am 11/04/12

We have been advised from our upstream provider that it has been escalated internally and they are actively working to resolve the issue. More information will be provided shortly.

Update: 10.20am 11/04/12

Please be aware due to this outage phone lines are currently running at full capacity.

ORIGINAL NOTICE:

The TPP Wholesale Customer Service team would like to advise that due to the level of network saturation customers accessing Netregistry services via all internet service providers will also be affected.

We are working with upstream provides to mitigate the inbound traffic causing the issues.

ETA: Approximately 15 -20 minutes for traffic levels to return to normal.

Netregistry is currently experiencing intermittent network connectivity issues caused by a DDoS (Denial of service) attack primarily affecting customers connecting via the Optus network.

Whilst all customers will be intermittently affected, it’s specifically targeted towards md-cpanel04.websiteactive.com, so this server will have significant issues with load speed and access.

Past that the DDoS is coming in waves and saturating our network links, meaning access to services on the Netregistry infrastructure will be affected.

Our technical team are working on the issue as our highest priority, however be aware DDoS can be unpredictable because we rely on upstream providers to restrict traffic for us.
